Dear Friends of Akada Network,
As we approach the end of 2014, we want to take the opportunity to thank you for your support and to wish you all the best for 2015.
2014 was a remarkable year for us as we officially commenced our public activities as an international non-profit organisation.
April: We launched our corporate website at www.akadanetwork.org.
April to December: We had the opportunity to engage with, present our work and initiate collaboration opportunities with potential partners and supporters in Canada, Sweden, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Germany, UK, Kenya and Rwanda. Feedback and early signs show these are looking promising, with some already yielding results.
July: We successfully completed our registration as a Nigerian NGO.
October: Our core team expanded with Dr Johanna Havemann joining us. Her expert contributions have been tremendous and we’re already feeling the impact; www.akadanetwork.org/about-us.
- We finalised discussions for the development of our core technology resource – initiating development in a matter of days into 2015.
- We made some modifications to our corporate website to ensure information, news and happenings from within the higher education and research sector and those that affect it are appropriately highlighted for your convenience; www.akadanetwork.org/news
- We also added an events page for your convenience. Never miss a submission deadline for your next Africa sector focused conference. You’ll also find updates about Akada Network, scholarships/grants/competitions and lots more; www.akadanetwork.org/events.
- We developed a quick 5 question “pulse check” survey to help us understand happenings within the sector in Africa and field-specific challenges and obstacles that African scientists are facing today, from your perspective. It only requires a maximum of 5 mins of your time. Do please participate at www.akadanetwork.org/survey – Thank you!
Outlook for 2015
In the New Year, we expect to progress our work through continued engagements with key players within our space. We look forward to developing and releasing a fully functional beta version of our technology resource and we will actively seek out synergetic collaboration opportunities with like-visioned organisations to enhance our offerings to audiences within our target community.
We thank you for the things we were able to achieve in 2014 through your support and look forward to doing more together. Overall, we end 2014 on a high note and look towards 2015 with great expectations.
